The biggest concern with delayed speech is the likely hood of autism. The doctor doesn't believe that is Shane's problem. He is simply slow, which means he could explode with words any day now. However, it isn't likely. The speech pathologist will work to help get Shane caught up with his friends, hopefully by the time he is 3.
I sure do hope his verbal skills start to take off soon. Until then we will be focusing a lot less on sign language and a lot more on speaking. This also means a lot more frustration until Shane decides he actually WANTS to talk.
And for your viewing pleasure, some crazy cute pictures of Shane's "Happy face."
I love the faces!
